Popular Nigerian TV host, Rufai Oseni has condemned the impulsive manner President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy.

Naija News recalls that in his inauguration speech on May 29, the president announced the removal of the petrol subsidy.

Tinubu later revealed that his aides left out the decision for the removal of petrol subsidy from his inauguration speech.

According to Tinubu, the removal of the petrol subsidy was not contained in his written speech, but he summoned the courage to say “fuel subsidy is gone”.

Recounting the situation via a post on Twitter, Oseni said that the same people who praised Tinubu over his impulsive and courageous move are now lamenting about hardship in the economy.

According to him, “I just laugh at some people’s action when they try to justify to unjustifiable.I know many people that supported subsidy is gone speech and I remember saying it too impulsive until there was an admission that his advisers told him not to announce subsidy is gone and he did,we can’t run a nation on impulse.

“The same people that said the president was courageous when he said subsidy gone are the ones now shouting hardship.I am not even sure they understood the speech.

“I support subsidy removal but my argument is you cant remove subsidy without putting fundamentals in place. What are these.

“Audit the NNPC.

“Increase local refining.

“Create a proper Energy mix.

“Improve power generation.”
