State government says workers violated public service regulations

The Ondo State Government has sacked 131 civil servants for violating public service rules and regulations, the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Dare Adebiyi said in Akure on Wednesday.

The president used the occasion to charge civil servants to be more productive

President Goodluck Jonathan has sworn-in Alhaji Isa Bello Sali as the new Head of Service ( HOS ) of the Federation.

The President who noted that the government transformation agenda will grind to a halt without an efficient and effective Civil Service to drive the process, also said the new HOS was assuming office at a critical period in the history of the Civil Service.

Your Excellency, on your behalf, I assume that the political lords are on another payroll. They cannot be placed side by side with the civil servants.

Dear Governor,

Your Excellency, I do recognize your inability to pay the minimum wage, but your capacity to pay I do not. The figures that are peddled from your office are very unclear. They are huge really. But what percentage will be used in paying the civil servants? And what percentage will be used in settling the political servants, no, appointees? We should sort this out before fatally misunderstanding each other.

The NUC president said that the NHF contributions which had now run into billion of naira should be transferred to the Federal Government.

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) yesterday, called on the Federal Government to scrap the National Housing Fund (NHF), describing the fund as counter-productive to workers.

Peter Esele, the President of the TUC, made the statement in an address entitled “Growing the National Economy for Job Creation and People’s Welfare,'' to mark the May Day celebrations.

Aninye advised parents, especially widows, to take advantage of the scholarship programme by encouraging their children, particularly those in tertiary institutions, to register with the board to benefit.

The Chairman of Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Buchi Aninye, told reporters on Tuesday in Asaba that N10.5 million was disbursed by the Delta state government in 2010 and 2011 as scholarship for children of dead civil servants and physically challenged students in the state.
